Spode Stafford White Open Vegetable Dish
Item Number:  1518003
Dimensions:  9 1/2" Diameter
Description:  Dazzling opulence describes a formal table set with Spode's Stafford White pattern. Crafted in ornate Old-World style reminiscent of a queen's dining décor or castle banquet hall, the collection features translucent fine bone china with gleaming white centers bordered by lavishly applied 22-carat-gold accent work. Wide trim, raised leaf sprigs, and shimmering flower motifs make a grand initial impact, while scalloped rims, wavy contours, and realistic leaf and acorn knobs offer a refined, feminine finish. Made in England and perfected by Josiah Spode himself in the 1700s, Stafford is the more intricate cousin to the streamlined Sheffield pattern. Choose from this extensive collection of place settings and serving pieces or mix and match the patterns to create a highly personalized table. Despite its delicate appearance, this china is suitably durable for regular use and enjoyment. Though it should not be place in the microwave because of the metal detailing, it does go safely into the dishwasher on low heat.

   About the Spode Company
In 1770, Joseph Spode established a small pottery in the village of Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire, England. Over the next 30 years, Spode perfected the process of blue underglaze printing from hand-engraved copper plates, which resulted in exquisitely detailed blue-and-white earthenware that is highly collectible today. Spode is also credited with inventing the formula for translucent fine bone china, soon to become an enduring industry standard. Archival engravings and molds allow the Spode company to continue producing favorite historic lines, while also adding new dinnerware and ovenware collections in vibrant contemporary patterns.
